The foundation was created in 2009, when Christian Keyes was diagnosed with cancer. The local community was so touched by Christian’s zest for life they wanted to help anyway they could and the foundation was started, with the primary focus to assist the family with medical expenses while he was battling this awful disease. Christian may have lost his battle in 2011, but his memory and smile continues to live on through the generosity of others and the foundation. The foundation continues to keep his SMILE alive by providing other families and children with financial assistance during their own medical battles, donating to local children’s hospitals, and giving back to the generous community with scholarships to students with the same zest for life as Christian had. Christian's saying "Just A Speed Bump" reminds us every day that every battle in life is just that and there is nothing that we cannot overcome.
